A brutal car crash

The police reported that Sean, the 14-year-old pedestrian, was walking on the sidewalk just moments before the terrible collision. 

Eyewitnesses revealed that the young teenager was thrown onto the hood of the Jeep, eventually falling beneath the vehicle. 

Due to the severity of his injuries, Sean was immediately airlifted to Comer Children’s Hospital for critical care. 

Despite every effort to save him, Sean’s injuries proved to be fatal in the following days. 

Eyewitnesses also mentioned that Sean fell from the hood of the Jeep before being crushed underneath it.

Four others also suffered non-life-threatening injuries along with Sean.

A memorial stands outside the sub shop where Sean was hit, consisting of flowers, green ribbons, and other items to honor his memory. 

Friends, parents, and fellow students of the St. Isaacs Jogues Parish Catholic School, where Sean graduated in May, led the creation of the memorial; they cut the green ribbons and tied them to trees in memory of Sean.

Sean’s Principal, Carol Burlinski, described Sean as a kind-hearted, thoughtful student who always went out of his way to serve others. 

She highlighted his contribution to the church tech ministry by describing how he helped with re-imaging iPads and streaming masses at the church.

Sean’s friend James Stangle recollected how Sean never spoke ill about anyone, always stayed out of trouble, and offered to help whenever and wherever he could. “He was just an all-round nice guy,” Stangle added.

The family’s statement showed how Sean’s death had shaken them, and they were still coming to terms with such an unimaginable loss.
